Annyeonghaseyo! The end of September is right around the corner, which means it is the season for all things Korean yet again! Cebuano Korean culture enthusiasts don’t need to travel far and wide to be able to experience the Korean culture — all you need to do is take a ride to SM City Cebu.
Cebu Korean Association Inc. (Cebu Hanin Hue Inc.) brings back the familiar sights and sounds of Korea for the annual Cebu City Korea Day. On its seventh year, CKA is hosting this event once again with the Cebu Provincial Government and SM City Cebu.
In preparation for the event, the Cebu Korean Association, together with the Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Cebu, held a briefing for all their media partners. This year’s Cebu Korea Day will be bigger and better — expect more activities coming your way!
Fun-filled activities are lined up leading to the gala night on September 30, 2017 (Saturday). It’s the perfect time to satisfy all your cravings. Whatever you want to do, this festival has got you covered. Here’s a list of activities you can enjoy:
1. Korean Film Festival
September 28 – October 1 – SM City Cebu Cinema 5
Tickets are absolutely FREE of charge but will be distributed on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis. Strictly 1 ticket per person only. However, you may get back in line to get one for your companion. Senior Citizens and PWD have a special lane and may bring up to 2 companions.
2. Korean Bazaar
September 28 – October 1 (Mall Hours) – The Northwing Atrium
Buy some Korean goodies from Incheon Gaehang, a team dedicated to the creation of job opportunities for the disabled. An assortment of photo cards, handmade fabric goods, accessories, folding fans, cosmetics, and grill ovens will be available at the bazaar.
You can also grab some Dalgona (sugar sweets) and Ssalgangjung (rice treats) both only for Php 50. After a tiring day of shopping, you can get either an aromatherapy, scalp massage, cool cream massage, or hand massage.
3. Korean Cultural Exhibit
September 28 – October 1 (Mall Hours) – Main Mall Atrium D (Lower G/F)
Get a chance to wear a Hanbok, the traditional costume of Korea, or learn how to make a “Tal” (Traditional Mask) keychain. You’ll also be able to learn how to make a traditional dessert called Injeolmi!
4. Korean Food Festival
September 28 – October 1 (Mall Hours) – The Open Parking (near V-Hire Terminal)
Indulge in some authentic Korean dishes! Get yourselves some bulgogi rice, bibimbap, kimchi, guksu, tteokbokki, and japche. Tag along your friends to satisfy your Korean foodie cravings together!
6. Cebu City Korea Day Gala Night
September 30 (6 PM) – The Northwing Atrium
The Bu Ji Hwa team from Seoul will be performing Samgo-mu, an energetic Korean drum dance where performers bend their back or move their body in different ways as they hit the drums.
And what’s more, KPop idol group Double Eight 88 is back with a bang! They will be performing during the KPOP Star Grand Finals and on Cebu Korea Day Gala Night. For all the K-Pop fans out there, this is your chance to meet them up close and personal.
Gear up for a Korean-packed weekend, Cebuanos! Fans from all over Cebu will gather for this most-anticipated event. It pays to be at the venue earlier to get first dibs on the seats! 🙂 See you there!
