For Future Digital Transformation in the City
15 scholars graduated with certificates last September 1, 2017 for the first batch of the Rural Impact Sourcing Technical Training under Ms. Fleire Castro of Third Team Media as Resource Person for the 12-day Technical Training. The technical training is a project of DICT (Department of Information and Communication Technology) in collaboration with DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) and LGU.

Most rural areas in the Philippines are highly populated yet have low employment rates due to the lack of investors within the vicinity. As a result, the majority of the working force would move to Manila, Cebu City, or other major cities where employment rates are high.
In connection with this, the Department of Communications and Information Technology (DICT) expressed their desire to advance digital literacy and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) skills among Filipino talents and freelancers. Thus, the Rural Impact Sourcing Technical Training was created, most especially in order to boost opportunities for high-value online jobs in rural areas in the country.
The technical training was done in collaboration with DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) who provided the Negosyo Center as the venue for the 3-week program. They also provided and sourced the MSMEs whose brands and businesses are partnered with their respective scholars for the rollout and implementation of their digital transformation.
It was also done in collaboration with the local government unit which, in the case of Bogo City, spearheaded by Mr. Roger Tonacao, the IT Head of Bogo LGU. The LGU provided technical assistance and meals for the scholars throughout the 3-week training and hosted the assessment and graduation program thereafter.
The scholars and MSMEs were screened according to basic technical and digital skills and according to interest in rolling out a digital marketing campaign, respectively. The scholars and MSMEs were then matched to work together for the duration of the 3-weeks and the 21-day campaign rollout.
